AccuVoice System
For some patients, the benefits of hearing aid amplification can be overshadowed by problems related to occlusion,or other issues related to the sound of their own voice. For patients reluctant to wearing hearing aids in the first place, the occlusion effect may give them a convenient excuse to reject the hearing aids altogether. With the accuvoice system, innova provides features that address issues related to the occlusion effect and the patient’s own voice. One way to address the occlusion effect is through larger vents; the larger the vent, the more low-frequency sound is allowed to escape the ear canal, and the occlusion effect is reduced. Innova features larger vents as a standard configuration on all hearing aid models. Unfortunately, larger vents can potentially lead to increased feedback problems; a larger vent opening provides more of a feedback path from the receiver to the microphones. However, with the Feedback Canceller, Innova overcomes this problem by adding an inverse-phase signal to the input, which cancels out the feedback path signal. Innova provides additional low frequency compression to better control the loud sounds that contribute to occlusion. This is accomplished through the 250 hz fitting handle and its corresponding compression channel. To address other problems related to the patient’s own voice, the hearing care professional can use the Voice Manager fitting tool, located in the EXPRESSfit Fitting System.
